"Just asking. I didn't want to say that I think that you would fit in with my family if you weren't okay with that." Gloriana said with a smile.

"Well, I'm fine with it," Nick told her with a warm smile on his, "I'm looking forward to meeting them, actually." He really was-he wanted to know about every aspect of Gloriana's life, including meeting her family.

"Good." Gloriana said with a smile. She couldn't wait for her family to meet Nick, and she couldn't wait for Nick to meet her family. "They are going to love you, and if they don't, then that's their loss, not yours." she added before starting to get the ingredients out for the cookies.

"I hope they do like me," He said, "I don't want to end up tearing you away from them, or something like that." He watched as she began to gather together ingredients. Not wanting to feel like he was doing nothing at all, he looked to her. "Anything you need help with?" He asked.

"There is a cookbook in the middle cupboard above the sink, it's a black binder, so you won't be able to miss it, but will you please get it down? I remember all of the ingredients, but I've never been able to remember the amount of each ingredient to put in." Gloriana said with a smile as she looked over her shoulder at Nick.

Nick nodded to her, going over to the cabinet. Opening it up, he quickly spotted the black binder that she spoke of and pulled it out. "Got it," He told her, walking back over and setting it on the table. He flipped it open, and began to leaf through the pages, looking for the recipes she spoke of.

"Do you want to get the flour mixture ready while I get the wet ingredients together?" Gloriana asked, tilting her head and looking at Nick while he looked for the recipe.

Nick nodded to her and grabbed a bowl and the ingredients he needed. He set to work mixing together the things for the flour mixture, his eyes darting back and forth between the recipe and what he was doing. When he had finished with that, he leaned back against a counter, waiting for Gloriana to finish up her own task.

"So, in the 62 years that you have been a veggie, have you found that you prefer this life over being human, or did you prefer being human?" Gloriana asked, as she finished mixing her part of the ingredients.

"I think I like this life better than being a human," He said, "But then again, I didn't have the best life as a human...it was very boring." He'd found life as a vampire so much more interesting; he'd traveled many more places and seen a lot more than he could've ever hoped to as a human.

"I'm sure your life wasn't as boring as you thought it was. But then again, I could be wrong. What have you done since becoming a vampire?" Gloriana asked, starting to combine the ingredients together.

"Travel mostly," He told her, "What about you? Which did you like more? Being a human or being a vampire?" The few vampires he'd met seemed to have mixed emotions about it-they all missed some aspects about being human, but also liked the advantages of being a vampire as well.

"I prefer being a vampire. Although a small part of us as vampires still feels pain, like at the loss of someone that you care about, it's not as overwhelming as it when you're a human. So while I still feel pain about my parents dying in a fire that destroyed our home, I've learned to still live my life as a vampire and not let that pain overpower my ability to move about and do things." Gloriana answered after a second of hesitation.

"That's good, that you're not letting what happened in your past hold you back," He told her with a slight smile. He'd never thought it was the best idea to always live in the past, never get on with you life because of something that happened long ago, especially when you had much more history than a normal person. "I think you're lucky though, that you got to know your parents," He told her. He had grown up in an orphanage-and while parents would've been nice, he'd gotten along just fine without them. But still, he found himself curious, from time to time, about what his parents were like.

"Wait... you didn't know your parents?" Gloriana asked, hoping to not look too shocked by that, but was still shocked none-the-less.

Nick shook his head. He could she was shocked, despite her efforts not to appear as such. "I grew up in an Orphanage," He told her calmly. He hoped he wouldn't be pitied by her for it; it wasn't really something that bothered him all that much. "So yeah, I didn't know them at all."

"That's a bummer." Gloriana said sadly and giving Nick a hug. She didn't know what she would have done if she never knew her parents. "Have you ever wondered about them?" she asked.

Nick wrapped his arms around her as she hugged. This sort of pity, he didn't really mind. "I have occasionally," He said, "But I've been doing fine without them." He hadn't really ever dwelled on the fact that he'd never had parents; and he wasn't about to start now.

"Good. Don't dwell on it." Gloriana said, giving Nick a quick kiss before turning around and putting drops of cookie dough onto the cookie sheet and then placing it into the oven and setting the timer. "Now that those are baking, what would you like to do?" she asked, turning back around.

"I never have," Nick told her, moving to help her drop cookies onto the sheet, then stepping away as she placed them in the oven. He shrugged as she turned around and asked what he wanted to do. "That's up to you," He told her, "Anything in particular you have in mind?"
