She sighed as she sat in her car, the small town of Forks was small, smaller than any town that she had known when she lived Oahu. Not only that, it was a boring town, there was nothing to do here, nothing that interested her anyway. She would have asked her mother if she could move back to Hawaii, but it would cost so much money to go back and she didn't really know her grandparents all that well. Sighing again, she turned the volume up, the local jams from Hawaii playing in her car, she missed all the bands and artists, who knew, once you were homesick, you'd miss things that would bore you every now and than.
Finally she turned off her car and got out, the cold air hitting her as she did so. She pulled her jacket around her tighter, she liked the cold but sometimes, this was to much. She slammed the door closed and looked around her, students doing their things as always, some of the cliques showing, some of them just not caring. It was quite different, the small town, her own High School had over 1,500 student, compared to the small amount of the kids in Forks High School.
She stuck out like a sore thumb, in a different way than most. Not because she was new, or because she was beautiful, not because she was smart but just for the fact that unlike most of the kids, she was naturally tanner and the only kid from Hawaii. Some had asked about her slight accent, although of course Pidgin would stick with her, why would it not? She began walking towards the school, only a few more minutes before the bell would ring and school would start.

Gwen was completely freaked out that she was going to be late. She'd woken up late, rushed through getting ready, and had hurried to school in her car. She was relieved to see, as she pulled into the school's parking lot, that it was still a few minutes before first bell. She breathed a sigh and relaxed, before grabbing her bookbag and hoping out of the car.
Walking up to the school, she saw a many students looking towards one girl in particular. It was a new student; which was unusual in and of itself, but it was made even more odd by the fact that this was the third new student in a few weeks. Gwen, deciding to be friendly, waked over to the girl. "Hey," She said, "You're new here, right? I'm Gwen."

Distracted, she turned towards the girl who was looking directly at her. She cocked her head to the side as she continued to speak, although it was quite short of course. "Actually." She paused, glancing quickly towards the school, "I'm not exactly new." She said apologetically. She sighed, she hadn't exactly wanted the words to come out of her mouth, it could have easily made the other girl and her have an awkward silence.
"I came here in the middle of last year." She continued on, pushing her bag up her back as it slid down her shoulder. "I mean, I guess you could call me new but I wouldn't say I was."

Gwen blushed and smiled sheepishly as she realized her mistake. She thought for a moment, searching back in her memory for any recollection of the girl. She'd seen her around, she realized she had seen her before, but hadn't had any classes with her, and had never really spoken to her before. She tried to remember her name...something with a J?
"Oh, yeah, right," She said finally, trying to work through the awakward moment. "Sorry, my brain's sort of fried this morning, and I don't see a lot of you, and I heard we got a new girl in the last couple days...You're Jayde, right?" Hopefully, she wasn't completely out of it, and she didn't get the wrong name. And hopefully, Jayde wouldn't mind her babbling, which Gwen often did when nervous.
She did know that there had definitely been a new girl in school, though she hadn't heard much about her, just that she had a twin brother that was new to the school too. But Gwen hadn't been in school the last couple days-she had a cold-so she just look for the first unfamiliar face she saw.

"Yeah. I'm Jayde." She smiled, her lips turning into a smile as she stood there. How surprising, the girl had actually known her name, although she couldn't say that she knew the girl's name, for she was absolutely horrible at remembering people's names. Especially those who weren't actually her friend's. She chuckled awkwardly as she put one of her hands on her head, 'scratching' it, "I don't think I know your name."
She glanced towards her watch, which she surprisingly had on since usually she didn't. Time was running out quickly but she had time to stay and chat for a few more. Her mind automatically registered about the new students, she had heard about them but had not seen them, nor did she care much about them. Gossip spread like a wildfire in the small school, it was almost surprising to her.

It didn't really surprise her that Jayde didn't know her name, nor did it bother her. She was really sure that she only knew her name because she'd been a new student in the past-she'd probably heard it mentioned so many times in the first few weeks she'd been there, she'd committed it to memory. Of course, there were kids whose names she could never get straight, despite the fact that they'd gone to the same school for years.
"I'm Gwen," She told the other girl, "Its nice to meet you, Jayde." She had thought the awkwardness might be over now, but instead an awkward silence fell between them. Gwen stayed quiet for a moment, then decided to break it. "Um, so...what class do you have first?" She asked. Seemed like a good enough place to start off.

"Interesting name." She replied, going off track to what Gwen had asked her. She glanced at her watch again, time was ticking by quickly and she wasn't the type to hang around to talk when she needed to go to class. Soon this conversation would need to stop, maybe. Unless they skipped but she didn't think that the girl before her was the type to do that. To just skip because of someone who she hardly knew asked. Plus, she herself had her mother breathing down her back on how she needed to improve her grades and not fail so that she could get a good life after school, both High School and College.
"I have English. I believe." She replied, smiling. It was a pretty fun class, surprisingly enough. She had never really liked English back in Hawaii, not because it was a horrible class but the teacher back home had been boring, not fun teacher that droned on forever. The teacher she had here was more upbeat and not so much a droning, lecture giving teacher. "You?"

She gave a slight shrug at her comment about her name being interesting. She never really thought of it as very interesting herself, but everyone had their own opinion. It wasn't really even her real name, it was just a nickname. She insisted on using it, because she'd never liked her real name-Guinevere. It just seemed to old fashioned to her.
"I'm guessing you don't have Ms. Talbot?" She asked as Jayde said she had English first period. Ms. Talbot was a complete and total bore, and she sucked the fun right of reading. She loated her English class. "I have Bio first," She said. She liked Bio, the subject matter interested her and she liked the instructor they had.
