Gwen stepped out of her house, breathing in the cool air. It had just stopped raining, hopefully for the day, and the sun was now shining on the wet streets. Gwen wasn't a big fan of the rain itself-it got rather tiring living in Forks, considering how often it rained there-but she loved the time just after the rain, when everything smelled fresh and new.
She turned out of her yard, walking down the sidewalk along the street. She wasn't going anywhere in particular, just wanted to get out of the house now in case it started raining again.

Julianna had been getting really annoyed lately with the over excessive amount of rain in Forks. It really screwed up her sense of smell when she tried to hunt. Maybe, just maybe, now that it had stopped raining for the time being, she might just get to go hunting after 1 and a half weeks of staying inside the house.
However, nature was still against Julianna when she stepped outside. 'Damn rain. Always screws up my hunting schedule.'
"Why do you like messing with my hunting schedule?" Julianna asked herself while looking up at the sky.
Heading towards the garage, she thought about maybe taking the car into town and getting some meat, but then decided against it. So, she started walking in the opposite direction toward town. If it started to rain again, she would run back home, get the car and then drive back.
Not watching where she was going, Julianna accidentally ran into someone.
"I am so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going. Are you okay?" Julianna asked the girl that she had bumped into.

Gwen was turning the corner, when she felt someone bump into her. She lost her balance for a moment, her arms cartwheeling before she regained it, narrowly missing falling flat on her ass on the pavement behind her. She looked at the girl who'd bumped into her. She hadn't seen her around, which surprised her. She knew most of the teenagers in Forks by their faces at the very least, having seen them around at school. But this girl she'd never seen before, at least not that she could recall. "Oh, I'm fine," Gwen said to the girl when she apologized, giving her a slight smile, "No harm done."

"I really am sorry." Julianna said.
"I'm Julianna by the way." she added, offering her hand to the girl.

Gwen took her hand as Juliana offered it to her, and shook it. "I'm Gwen," She said, "Its nice to meet you, Juliana. Are you new around here? I don't remember seeing you in school before." She could be wrong, of course; she might just have missed her or she might be homeschooled or something like that. She wouldn't know unless she asked her.

"Oh, no I'm not really 'new' any more. I moved here a year ago with my dad and younger siblings, but since I finished school a year early, I didn't get enrolled at Forks High School." Julianna said with a smile.
"Do you usually remember people's faces after seeing them for the first time?" she asked, tilting her head to the side and slightly shifting her weight from one foot to another.

"Oh," Gwen said, nodding at her explanation. It surprised her a bit, still, that she hadn't seen her around anywhere. You'd think after a year, she would've seen her at least once. But maybe she and her family just kept to herself? "I normally do," She told her with a nod, "Its the names I usually have trouble with. But I'm pretty good at remembering faces."

"That's cool." Julianna said with a smile.
"I've always wished that I was that good at remembering names and faces, but when I see someone that I've seen before, I recognize them, I just can't remember their name and they look really familiar." she added.

"Yeah, I can never remember name either, most of the time," Gwen said, "Sometimes though, someone's name will stick with me, for one reason or another. Its odd really. Some people's names will come right to me, even if I haven't seen them in years, but there are kids in my class who I see everyday and can't put a name to their face for the life of me."

Julianna couldn't help but smile. She liked Gwen, although she had made one other friend, Clara, she could always do with more friends.
"Gwen, would you like to go shopping with me? I need to go into town to get some meat from the grocery store." Julianna asked, tilting her head to the side and shifting her wait from left to right while hoping that Gwen would say yes.
"If you don't want to, or have other plans, that's fine, I would just like some company." she added, trying to hide the pleading in her voice, but doing a good job at it.

Gwen already had several friends that she'd made over the years she'd lived in Forks, but she was more than welcoming to new ones. Who wouldn't want more friends in their life, after all?
As she asked if she'd liked to go shopping with her, Gwen nodded. "Sure," She said with a smile. "That'd be great. I don't really have anything else to do this afternoon." She really wouldn't mind keeping her company for a little while, it would be nice to go on a little shopping trip.
